Muddy Sneakers Launches “Take a Hike” Fundraising Adventure to Support Outdoor Science Education

Explore the great outdoors by taking a hike for Muddy Sneakers

Muddy Sneakers is excited to announce the launch of its latest fundraising initiative, Take a Hike.

This fun and inclusive event encourages individuals of all ages to explore the great outdoors for a great cause! Participation supports Muddy Sneakers’ mission to bring nature-based science education to students across North Carolina.

Throughout October, participants can walk, run, bike, or paddle on public lands of their choice. Whether it’s a casual stroll or an ambitious weekly 5-mile hike, every effort contributes to the cause. Participants can encourage family members, teachers, neighbors, co-workers, and friends to support this inspiring journey. Participants choose their favorite activity, helping everyone take part in a flexible and fun way.

Kari Parker, Development Director at Muddy Sneakers, shared her enthusiasm for the event. She said, “We are thrilled to offer a fun, inclusive, and healthy fundraising opportunity. Take a Hike allows everyone to get involved with the shared goal of providing students in North Carolina the opportunity to connect more deeply with nature. With the average child spending less than 10 minutes a day in unrestricted outdoor play, Muddy Sneakers is committed to changing that. This event is an exciting step towards expanding our reach, and it’s easy for anyone to participate while promoting more green time and less screen time for our children.”

All proceeds from Take a Hike will go directly towards Muddy Sneakers’ programs. These programs inspire curiosity, foster environmental stewardship, and nurture critical thinking skills in young students. By participating, supporters will help enrich the educational experiences of countless students across the state. This empowers students to build meaningful connections with the natural world.
