Meet Townsend Birdsong, a passionate advocate for outdoor education!
Townsend Birdsong is a dedicated member of the Muddy Sneakers Board of Directors, celebrating more than 10 years of service since first joining in 2013. With over three decades of experience as the owner and director of Camp High Rocks in Brevard, NC, Townsend has left an enduring legacy of outdoor education. Recently, she transitioned the camp’s leadership to the next generation, ensuring its impact will continue for years to come.
Beyond Muddy Sneakers, Townsend also serves on the board of Kids in Camp of Transylvania County, reflecting her unwavering commitment to fostering meaningful outdoor experiences for children. Her professional background in nursing and her personal passions for horseback riding, cooking, reading, and all things outdoors further enrich her perspective and contributions.
Townsend’s dedication stems from a lifelong belief in the transformative power of nature. She says, “Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of providing outdoor experiences to children that foster both personal growth and a deep connection to nature. I plan to do this for as long as I can!”
