Rosemary O’Day Lee is the Director of Finance and HR at Muddy Sneakers. She brings a wealth of expertise and a collaborative spirit to her role, as well as cross-industry experience and an impressive array of skills to our team. These make her an invaluable asset to our mission of fostering a deeper connection between students and the natural world through experiential outdoor education.

Professional Journey and Expertise

Rosemary’s career is marked by a diverse range of roles in environmental, nonprofit, corporate, and property management sectors. Her journey began as a Project Assistant at the Long Island Pine Barrens Society. There, she managed marketing, events, PR, and business operations for an environmental education and advocacy organization. She then honed her leadership skills as a Park Ranger at Fire Island National Seashore, recruiting and leading a team of volunteers in the daily operations of a 26-mile national park.

Her passion for environmental education led her to the Schoolhouse of Wonder as an Outdoor Environmental Educator, where she coordinated outdoor programs for children. At Wake County Parks, Recreation, & Open Space, Rosemary progressed from a Park Aide to a Group Programs Specialist, spearheading marketing strategies and events for Historic Yates Mill County Park.

Rosemary’s transition into accounting and payroll began with Pepsi Bottling Ventures LLC. As a Payroll Specialist, she managed payroll for over 500 employees and handling complex inquiries, audits, and garnishments. She further refined her accounting expertise at BPG Management NC LLC and Lundy Management Group, taking on roles as a Property Accountant and Staff Accountant, respectively. Her responsibilities included reviewing general ledger accounting, approving bank reconciliations, processing rent payments, and preparing financial statements.

Skills and Accomplishments

Rosemary is renowned for her proficiency in advanced Excel, which she leverages for thorough data analysis and reporting. Her ability to automate recurring journal entries and streamline processes significantly boosts productivity and efficiency. She is well-versed in project management, human resources, marketing, and process improvement initiatives, reflecting her versatility and proactive approach.

Rosemary’s eagerness to learn and adapt has been a hallmark of her career, earning her recognition as a quick learner and a proactive professional.

Educational Background

Rosemary’s academic journey includes continuing education at the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. She has also completed coursework in accounting and tax preparation at Wake Technical Community College. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from St. Bonaventure University, which underscores her lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship and education.

Rosemary is a member of the American Association of Professional Bookkeepers and a Certified North Carolina Environmental Educator. She has also served as a Volunteer Tax Preparer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).
