We’re excited to introduce Aaliyah Wright, Programming Manager for Muddy Sneakers’ Piedmont Hub at Muddy Sneakers!
Originally from Greenwood, South Carolina, Aaliyah has always been deeply passionate about the natural world and dedicated to creating opportunities for others to connect with it. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Tuskegee University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Earth and Ecosystem Sciences. Her research focuses on conservation genetics, particularly in endangered freshwater mussels, where she conducts essential genetic work to preserve these species and better understand their ecological importance.
With a strong background in environmental education, Aaliyah has developed and led several impactful programs. One of her standout initiatives is ROOT, an afterschool program that introduces students to environmental stewardship and careers in science. Additionally, she spearheaded the Bridge Program, designed to support freshmen Animal Science students in building leadership and practical skills. Her commitment to inclusivity in environmental science ensures that all students, regardless of background, can explore and contribute to the natural world.
As the Piedmont Hub’s Programming Manager, Aaliyah’s expertise in conservation, outreach, and education is a tremendous asset to our team. She is eager to continue connecting students with nature, fostering environmental stewardship, and making a lasting impact on future generations.
In her free time, Aaliyah enjoys reading, writing, and exploring the outdoors with her two dogs. Whether in the lab, the classroom, or out in nature, she remains committed to educating others and nurturing a deep appreciation for the environment. We’re thrilled to have Aaliyah Wright on board!
