Shannon Conway, originally from Massachusetts, discovered her love for nature during summers at Camp Hayward on Cape Cod. There, she immersed herself in the outdoors and developed a deep appreciation for the environment. Her academic passion drove her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Human Relations from High Point University. This helped to lay the foundation for a dynamic career in environmental education.
Shannon’s professional path has taken her to breathtaking locations around the world. Among them are Costa Rica, Los Angeles, Boston, and Alaska, where she spent the past four years. While in Alaska, she began working toward her Master’s Degree in Outdoor and Environmental Education. Her contributions to the environmental education field are vast, including teaching at the Kellogg Field School, leading day camps at the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies, and serving as the Youth Program Manager for the Denali Education Center.
Now settled in the Asheville area, Shannon Conway is excited to continue her work in environmental education with Muddy Sneakers. When she’s not helping students connect with nature, she enjoys exploring Western North Carolina’s waterfalls, foraging for mushrooms, sipping cold brew coffee, or even line dancing.
Shannon’s diverse experiences and unwavering passion for the outdoors make her an integral part of our Muddy Sneakers team.
