Meet Robert Schmidt, Muddy Sneakers Core Instructor!
From his childhood days exploring the woods of Southern Illinois to his current role as an outdoor educator, Robert Schmidt’s journey has been one of curiosity, adventure, and a deep connection to nature. Growing up, Robert spent countless hours catching animals in the creek, building forts, and always wondering what lay beyond the next hill. These early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for the outdoors, shaping him into the seasoned educator he is today.
At age 16, Robert began working at a summer camp in Southwestern Virginia. What started as a summer job quickly became a lifelong career. Over the years, he has honed his skills and knowledge, earning a master’s degree in Outdoor Education from Ohio University. He has also achieved a Level III Animal Track and Sign Certification from Tracker Certification North America. With over a decade of experience as an experiential educator, Robert has developed a profound understanding of the natural world and a unique ability to share this knowledge with others.
As part of the Muddy Sneakers team, Robert brings his wealth of experience and enthusiasm to inspire the next generation of outdoor explorers. When he’s not leading a group through the woods, you can usually still find Robert outdoors. He may be fishing by a quiet stream, peering intently at the ground, or playing folk music—sometimes all at the same time!
With his deep-rooted love for the outdoors and dedication to experiential education, Robert Schmidt is a perfect fit for Muddy Sneakers.
