Meet Casey Therrien: Director of Development at Muddy Sneakers
Casey Therrien joined Muddy Sneakers in 2025 as Director of Development. She brings over 15 years of nonprofit fundraising experience and a deep passion for connecting people to nature. As a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), Casey specializes in donor engagement, volunteer coordination, strategic campaign planning, event execution, and nonprofit database management.
Originally from Vermont, Casey’s love of the outdoors led her to pursue a career that bridges community-building and environmental stewardship. In 2015, she relocated to the South with her family in search of warmer weather and new adventures.

Before joining the Muddy Sneakers team, Casey led the philanthropy team at Triangle Land Conservancy. There, she played a key role in advancing conservation efforts across the Triangle region—helping to protect clean water sources, preserve natural habitats, support local food systems, and connect people with the outdoors through land protection and stewardship.
Casey holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management with a concentration in Human Services from Northeastern University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Sociology from SUNY Plattsburgh.
In addition to her professional work, Casey is an active volunteer in her community. She is also a 500-hour Registered Vinyasa and Prenatal Yoga Teacher. When she’s not fundraising or teaching yoga, you’ll likely find her reading, exploring new places, or spending time outside with her family and two dogs.
