Tips for Year-End Giving

People like you help to power every step forward in Muddy Sneakers’ mission to connect children with the natural world. As 2025 comes to a close, your generosity can make a meaningful impact while also providing potential tax benefits. Here’s everything you need to know to give by year-end.

Gifts by Check

To count for the 2025 tax year, checks must be postmarked by Wednesday, December 31. Please mail your gift to:

Muddy Sneakers
PO Box 10971
Raleigh, NC 27605

Tax ID: 26-0338084

Every gift, big or small, helps spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster a lifelong connection to nature for children in your community.

Online Gifts

Online gifts can be completed on December 31. Your online gift helps us continue providing life-changing outdoor learning experiences for every student.

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)

If you are giving through a donor-advised fund, initiate your gift early in December to ensure Muddy Sneakers receives it by year-end. Since the tax benefits for DAFs are already realized, we encourage generous contributions to nonprofits, especially as organizations like Food Banks and youth programs face rising costs.

Gifts from IRAs

If you are 70½ or older, consider a charitable gift from your IRA. Congress allows individuals to give up to $105,000 tax-free from required distributions. These gifts:

  • Bypass income taxes
  • Count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD)

For those 73 or older, qualified charitable distributions also satisfy the year’s RMD. Your IRA gift can help more children experience the wonder of the outdoors. Always consult your tax professional or financial adviser for your best options

Gifts of Stock or Securities

Giving appreciated stock or securities can offer greater tax savings than cash. To count for the 2025 tax year, requests must be submitted by December 15.

Matching Gifts

Many employers offer matching gifts, which can double or even triple the impact of your generosity. Be sure to check if your employer participates!
