Joanne Bartsch
Joanne Bartsch spent a lot of time as a child wading through creeks and tidal pools to see what treasures she could find. She says in many ways, her childhood reminds her of a Muddy Sneakers experience! Her love of and fascination with critters of all types led her to study biology in college. She has been teaching a variety of science courses, mostly biology oriented, at the Carolina Day School Upper School for the past 38 years and found that sharing that fascination with living things has been a wonderful way to continue learning about them. Currently, her non-curricular interests include walking/hiking, taekwondo, and fly-fishing. Around Asheville, she is active at First Presbyterian Church and also volunteers at 12 Baskets and Habitat for Humanity.
