In 2016, Camp Muddy Sneakers will continue to offer summer day camp programs to an expanded age range. This summer, we will have our Trail Blazer Camp, a field-based, full-day camp for rising 4th through 7th graders, and Nature Explorers Camp, a half-day, place-based experience for rising 1st through 3rd graders.
Join our team of Muddy Sneakers naturalists as we continue the adventure next summer! Through hands-on, experiential learning, our campers gain a deep understanding of the natural world and have the opportunity to explore the peaks, creeks, and wild woodlands that make western NC so magical.
Camp Muddy Sneakers has worked with partners to establish ‘base camp’ sites in each county. These existing school/college campuses will host the Nature Explorers Camps as well as serve as the drop off/pick up/rain location for the Forest Explorers Camps. Multiple one-week sessions will be offered in Brevard, Hendersonville, and Asheville (Trail Blazers only).
Camp Muddy Sneakers is based on a philosophy that kids need to develop a connection to the natural world at an early age and there is no better way to do that than through meaningful and fun outdoor experiences on the incredible lands that surround us here in western NC! Our day camps are focused on getting kids outdoors to inspire curiosity, connect with nature, stay active, and cultivate a sense of stewardship. Campers not only have a lot of fun but also learn about various ecosystems through experiential activities while exploring the forests and streams of Western North Carolina. Each session is taught by highly qualified Muddy Sneakers naturalists in small, co-ed groups.
Camp Muddy Sneakers has been an amazing experience for our daughter. The staff at Muddy Sneakers are passionate and dedicated to sharing their love of nature with their students, teaching practical skills, confidence and sparking curiosity that last long after camp is over. Camp Muddy Sneakers is a a wonderful asset to our children and our community and we look forward to both of our children experiencing it again this summer.
