Muddy Sneakers represents a unique educational opportunity for our children and the state of North Carolina. Our programs bring substantive outdoor science education to children at a critical developmental stage where continued trends show childhood being pulled inside.

This timely educational experience meaningfully brings 5th grade science standards to life and reminds children of our interconnectedness with our natural world. Muddy Sneakers also supports 5th grade educators with a year-long partnership that helps to address the achievement and opportunity gaps not yet solved by public education alone.

For a growing number of NC’s elementary schools, Muddy Sneakers is an embedded part of the science curriculum and serves as a highly anticipated capstone for children completing their elementary years.
