Cindy Ramsay
Assistant Education Manager and Lead instructor
Cindy Ramsay grew up in Alamance County, NC, exploring the woods around her home with her two sisters. She always had a very strong connection with wildlife and the outdoors. In high school and college, she worked at an animal hospital as a veterinary technician and she volunteered at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at the NC Zoo in Asheboro. She attended UNC – Greensboro and completed her bachelor of science degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. She spent several years working in diagnostic and research laboratories in microbiology and nanotechnology. She then decided to become a teacher and received her master’s degree in teaching secondary science. She taught for four years at the high school level in subjects: AP biology, chemistry, anatomy and AP environmental science — which quickly became her passion and her favorite subject to teach. Cindy joined the Muddy Sneakers piedmont team in 2017. She enjoys connecting science and nature and watching students’ curiosity bloom during field expeditions and virtual sessions.
