Leslie was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. Although she has called many places home over the years, she fell in love with the mountains of Western NC when she moved here 15 years ago. She graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN in 2001 and spent many years as a classroom teacher teaching and learning from 2nd – 5th graders. In 2012 and 2013, she was lucky enough to work as a field instructor with Muddy Sneakers, getting to pair her passions of teaching and spending time in nature. She is very excited to be back with Muddy Sneakers after being in the classroom for several years. In addition to her passion for teaching, she loves to learn through new experiences. She is an avid traveler and has enjoyed taking her two children with her on adventures all over the world. When she is not teaching or traveling, you can find her trail running, mountain biking or out exploring the forests where we live.
