David has a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in zoology. He grew up in southeastern North Carolina and moved to Henderson county after completing his master’s degree. He worked for NC State University on a project trying to find ways to control rodent pests in apple orchards. After ten years on this research project, he began to teach college biology courses at Blue Ridge Community College and has been teaching a variety of biology classes for the past 26 years . Recently retired from teaching, he has significant outdoor experience in the western North Carolina. This includes trips for ecology, natural history sites in the area, and showing students why western North Carolina is a great place to live.
